A hearty salad can be a great way of eating loads of fresh nutritious foods that really will help you consume a whole array of nutrients, vitamins, minerals and more!
Its also a great way to get in some raw vegetables which contain different, nutrients and enzymes.
Salads are also super quick to put together for time strapped people.
When I talk salad I don’t mean a few lettuce leaves and a bit of cucumber, I am talking green leaves, spinach, kale, water cress or rocket, cucumber, carrot, pepper, onions, radish, fruits such as avocado, mango, pomegranate, beans such as chickpeas, nuts, seeds and that’s before you add any meat, chicken or fish.
Think different colours, textures and tastes!
What you can put in is endless and you can make a really delicious satisfying healthy meal in minutes. Toss it all in a dressing such as squeezed lemon, organic apple cider vinegar or olive oil and it really does taste great!
Here’s some of the things I put in mine;
Green leafy veg
Loads of green leaves – usually a mixture of kale, spinach, watercress or maybe some cabbage.
Chopped cucumber, pepper, spring onion, beetroot, alfalfa sprouts.
Grated carrot, sweet potato, raddish, raw sauerkraut
Pomegranate, mango, goji berries, sultanas
Nuts and seeds
Chickpeas or other beans.
chicken or any leftover meat or fish from the fridge.
Rice or quinoa, depending on how hungry I am.
You can really pack a nutritional punch with a hearty filling salad that tastes great. Cover it all in a dressing of squeezed lemon, organic apple cider vinegar and/or olive oil and you are good to go! Literally takes minutes.
